We went to Vietnam in 2011 and I took no knives traveling to foreign country I did not want to lose my good knives. I looked for a good knife in Saigon and found none some war relics but not a good knife. In HANOI online I found a traveler mentioned Bisu, JSC. 183 Doi Can Ba Dinh District for knives and tools. "They are nice people and friendly" If you are a back pack traveler this is the place for good knife and tool like Leatherman or Gerber Victorinox.. Small shop but many knives to choose from. I first bought a Victorinox Officer knife two blades two flat screwdrivers with can and bottle openers a phillips and an AWL for punching holes in your belt shoes or leather gear. It even has the tooth pic and tweezers and is only 2 3/4 inch long.(40$US) Later I got a Leatherman Crater with 2.5 inch serrated assisted blade flat and phillips screw drivers bottle opener/carabiner for your web gear.(35$US) Its a pretty good stainless knife not too big. In your check in luggage its not a problem on Vietnam Air. Just dont "ask around" for a knife no one knows where to get one. Remember 183 Doi Can "Ba Dinh" Hanoi any taxi will take you there its a shopping paradise area. (dont let your wife look at the purses) let me know if you find it Harry Rountree Facebook.
