Superindico...., escolhir o famoso ravióli negro, que prato maravilhoso...o vinho muito bom...fiquei encantada. O ambiente muito gostoso, e ainda melhor é a recepção da Ana, uma pessoa muito agradável...tudo valeu.

We discovered this amazing place completely by happy accident during a recent weeklong stay in Colonia. While out walking in the Barrio Historico, we were invited into a home of some USA expats liviing there. We told them how boring we found the food to be in Uruguay in general, and they instantly booked us for lunch the following day at Don Florida! Eight of us enjoyed an absolutely stellar lunch, thanks to the owner/chef, Carlos, who apparently only opens the place when he feels like it. What an amazing culinary artist this Frenchman is! No matter what it takes, you MUST find out about La Florida while you are in Colonia.

Fodor's Review

The black-and-white photos, lace tablecloths, and quaint knickknacks that clutter this long, low house belie the fact that it was once a brothel. It still has private rooms, but it's dining that politicians and the occasional celeb rent them for these days. You, too, can ask to be seated in one, but consider the airy back dining room, which has views over the river. It's hard to say if it's the flamboyant French-Argentine owner's tall tales that keep regulars returning or his excellent cooking. Specialties include kingfish, sole, and salmon cooked to order. You can suggest sauces of your own or go with house suggestions like orange-infused cream.
