Great mussels and cocktails

I don't know if me being drunk had to do with how I felt about this place, but this was one of my most magical experiences in DC. I was stumbling down the street with some friends on a quiet Wednesday night and we heard thumping music radiating from a corridor. Decided to follow the music and we were greeted by twinkly lights, fully stocked bars, and plenty of seating. Getting drunk in the courtyard of the original post office building is a wonderful experience. We learned from the bartender that the corridor we stumbled down is where the horse-drawn mail carriages would roll in for sorting. I honestly have no idea what the menu is like but it's worth a stop for a drink and some good music.

Poste is a decent place. I can't speak TOO much on the restaurant side as I'm only ever meeting people here for Caps and Wizards games. The bar area is nice as long as you aren't with too large of a group. The wine selection is nice as well. There's an outdoor patio that is heated for the winter if the inside gets too loud for conversations.

Had a work happy hour at Poste. Enjoyed the outdoor couches. The inside seemed kind of blah.....great decor but not to festive. The outdoor bars are much more livelier! Had a great time!

One of the best outside spaces and bars in Washington. The Bar is located in the back of Hotel Monaco with a massive interior courtyard that feels unlike the usual hotel bar. The crowd is usually lively but you have space to move and hear your friends. The drinks are unremarkable, but they have the variety of the usual well stocked bar. They are expensive, so be prepared for that. Also, order the garlic fries...just make sure everyone eats some so not to offend those around you.
