A very nice little restaurant with a beautiful interior and delicious food! Our server filled us in on all of the history of the Gryphon and its origins as an apothecary, after he filled us in on the history we spent the time waiting for our food looking around the building and noticing how we could definitely see it as an apothecary and how little they changed to turn it into a restaurant.
I ordered the soup the day, it was creamy salmon chowder that warmed me right up after the cold rainy morning we'd had. The meals are not portioned super big but you leave the table satisfied. A great stop if you're a lighter eater and don't want to carry your leftovers around with you all day.
The only thing that really disappointed me was for being advertised as a "Tea House" and "Brunch and tea" service.... I was really disappointed by the tea selection. I'm big into teas so maybe my standards were higher than others. But I was at least hoping to see a menu dedicated to teas of the day at least. All I saw on the menu was a choice between two teas. The peach iced tea was very good. But I had already had peach tea at several other restaurants and was hoping for something more elaborate from a "brunch and tea" cafe.

A wonderful location for enjoying lunch, or tea or any other food and drink you choose. It's quiet enough to visit with each other. The salmon special today was very tasty. Our waiteress was very friendly and efficient.

Wonderful place with a wonderful atmosphere and very old inside. I would recommend it for tea and brunch, but I do wish they had more than just an afternoon tea. Maybe another variety of tea party options, like a royal tea or something that offered other options that the afternoon tea does not offer.

Beautiful decorations give a relaxed, comfortable feel. The books, stained glass and the bar make it feel like you've just stepped back in time to a classier era. Ask your server about the history of the place! There is nothing on the menu that isn't absolutely delicious. They have the best crab soup I've ever tasted, hands down. My hubby ordered the tenderloin and was very pleased. I very much enjoyed the smoked salmon BLT.

A quaint restaurant with an excellent assortment of teas and specialty drinks. Music is from the 1940-50s big band era and the ambiance is reminiscent of the 1930s. The food is both elegant and unique, and the drinks are flavorful yet light. I would recommend the Ooh La Lacoste, which is an earl grey tea with lavender, vanilla, and steamed milk. If you have time on Sunday early afternoon, I would recommend coming here. Located in the Scottish Rite Temple.
