Farmerbrown is a slow, home-cooking kind of place, with Southern staff and good Southern food. The place is big and spacious, and the food is made with quality ingredients and presented well. Add the homemade, green, spicy sauce if you like spice, maybe add some salt as well. I would come once for the experience if you have lots of time, as service tends to be on the slower side of things. They are known for their fried chicken and shrimp and grits here, so if you're a fan, order those!

Ridiculous wait times of 45mins+, but...

Is it good soul food, yes. It most definitely is. If you happen to be able to just walk in & not need to wait, it's worth it.

However, if you're in a hurry looking for a quick bite, I'd recommend going elsewhere.

Almost walked right by it while looking for somewhere to eat. So glad I didn't. One of my new favorite restaurants in town. Everything was great. Amazing food and very friendly staff.

Looking for a quick bite for lunch today and found this spot on yelp (after passing up another questionable looking place...) and so happy to have strolled in here! The food is all fresh and everything was SO tasty! Very unique, good portions. Well deserved 4 stars

Was in town with my family for 4 days and the food was so good we ate here twice. Great food and atmosphere. Mom said the fried chicken was the best she's ever eaten in her entire life, and we all agreed. Seafood gumbo was delicious, the best potato salad came with the short ribs, the bourbon pecan pie was amazing, and the yams are stellar. so good. A few cons though, the cheesy grits were mediocre, the water brought to the table has cucumber in it (I like cucumber but the family doesn't), and we asked for plain water but the server forgot, the bourbon pecan pie was supposed to come with pepper ice cream but got served to me with just vanilla (I think they must've ran out) and the cherry peach cobbler which was served in a small cast iron skillet accidentally came out to us stone cold instead of hot so it tasted awful (like metal) we had it taken away and didn't get charged. Despite setbacks the overall quality of the meals we had was so great i highly recommend this place. If the prices of the entrees are a bit much, some of the meals you can order just as an appetizer at a smaller portion and cost and are still generous enough to leave you full and satisfied. Some of the best food I've eaten in San Francisco.
