The shrimp and grits for brunch was amazing. If you're looking for that amazing southern food definitely recommend you visit this place. They also have great service. The biscuits were sooooooo good! I give them 5 stars!!!

So far, I've been here about six times.
The food's baseline seems to be "excellent." There have been things I haven't liked, but I'm a food nerd who is surrounded by loads of professional chefs, and I love to cook -- my dislike was purely based off of the ingredients, not due to lack of skill in execution. A good example of this is me discovering that I like fried okra in small coins, not in large spears, which is the way Poole's does it. The breading was wonderful and the spears were perfectly cooked.
Then there are the sublime dishes, like the rabbit confit over duck fat noodles. The damn mac and cheese sides. Fried porchetta (sinful!) over baked beans. I would not let my boyfriend touch that one.
The Greyhound is my favorite permanent cocktail, but I've never had one I didn't like. The drinks are nuanced, well balanced and executed perfectly every time. No duds here.
It's a regular haunt of mine for dinner. I just need to get out there for brunch one day...

I wasn't quite sure how i would like this restaurant when I first was seated with my guests. For starters, they don't give out menus. No drink menus or food menus. The items were written on a chalk board. This made it hard for people facing the wrong way to decide what to eat. After deciding to go in family style. My table ordered many items that all turned out to be delicious! Get the Mac and cheese!

Incredible in all regards!
We were the first in the door at about 5:15. Bar opens at 5. It was a Thursday night, crowd began shuffling in...
Hostess was polite and attentive, bar keep was handling the increasing number of patrons well. I had a perfectly prepared classic Tito's martini.
Once seated, we started with the Chicken Liver Pate and had to stop ourselves from eating all of it because we had entrees coming and, as recommended, we wanted to save room for dessert.
I had halibut and Steve had shrimp. We shared an order of braised greens. There were so many tempting options on the menu it was hard to make a choice.
The serving sizes were abundant. Sides were served family style. Ingredients were clean and obviously fresh and prepared in a very savory manner. Presentation was attractive and colorful. Flavors defined and well-balanced.
Dessert was delicious and we left pleasantly satiated.
Highly recommended. Go early to avoid long waits. You'll likely love it.

First of all, this is an "honest to goodness" review. We were in Raleigh visiting my son over Father's Day weekend. We came on a Saturday night. We put our name in and were told there would be an hour and a half wait. We went and bummed around at other great shops and at Arcade. We came back to one of The. Best. Dinners. Ever.
We had the tomato pie, family style corn with oyster mushrooms and sherry, Mac-n-cheese, NC fish stew, fried chicken, to name a few of the items. It's all delicious! The local beer and cocktails on the bar menu are amazing! The staff is personable, fun, polite and customer service oriented!! The ambiance is eclectic and funky but make you feel like you've walked back into a slice of nostalgia! Don't let a little wait put you off.... it's packed and bustling with patrons for a reason! And don't forget to leave a little room for dessert and coffee ... even if you share it with your family! Perfect ending to a perfect meal!:)
