Great, really interesting food. I had a salad with shaved dahlia roots and jerk chicken for entree. Chicken wasn't overcooked - definite plus. We had the fisherman's plate with various paté and smoked fish for our starter with our salads. All the flavors were really spot-on and interesting - the sort of thing I appreciate and would come to Portland for.

I've reminisced about restaurants like this. Park House Eatery in San Diego came to mind while enjoying my Sesame Chili Chicken Salad. Al Fresco fare nestled in a comfy atmosphere. Not trying too hard to be what they are: fantastic. Place gets nailed with business at night. Glad it was a lunch meeting.

If I could rate this 0 stars, I would. Worst restaurant experience and I didn’t even get to go inside. Our party was initially given a wait time of 30 minutes. Yet we had to wait outside on the sidewalk in the cold, with a baby, for over an hour and a half. The hostess kept telling us we were next, while seating new parties before us. I guess it’s called The Observatory because we had to stand outside and observe everyone else getting seated and eating. Or maybe because we had to observe the stars from the sidewalk. We ended up leaving (the sidewalk) after over an hour and a half and taking our business elsewhere. None of the staff cared about our experience or the fact that we waited out on the sidewalk. I have no idea what it even looks like inside. Worst customer service experience in Portland ever. If you care about getting good service, let alone a table, avoid this place.

Great food, reasonably priced. Good menu, with food for carnivores and vegetarians. Great happy hour menu, too. Staff is friendly and efficient. Often crowded in the evenings (because it's so good!) I highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert! Only minor "complaints" are the noise level is pretty high when it's crowded and the parking can be hard to come by on Friday & Saturday nights, but it's worth a short walk! Great neighborhood (Montavilla) spot!

Came here specifically for dessert! Wow, did not disappoint. Delicious. Not your typical bar food. I got a berry and lemon curd parfait. It was divine. I didn't even share with my friends, it was that good. The staff were great as well. Next time, I will come and get the food too, seems like a great little spot!
