I went out of town for an extended period of time and I've communicated with people at Planet Beach to put my account on hold.
Instead they kept my account active and consistently billing me. And it comes to the point they're harassing me up twice a day to collect money for an account that I'm not using, I've communicated that I wasn't in town. Completely incompetent. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Don't go here.

Hate to say it, but this place is filthy, and customer service is dreadful. On more than one (several) occasion(s), I showed up DURING business hours to find notes explaining that someone had to leave due to a family emergency. There were a few staff members that were really professional and lovely to interact with and one or two that made me uncomfortable.
My dermatologist recommended occasional tanning for a minor skin problem, so I got a membership. For months, I received a discounted membership for renewing on their, "Membership Appreciation Day", until today when I was told that those discounts are only for products, and that they had given them to me in the past "to be nice".
That reasoning, beyond being kind of rude, just made so little sense to me, because the entire purpose of "Membership Appreciation Day" was for members to receive membership discounts- at no point did anyone ever suggest that the discounts were reserved for products. I never purchased products. Furthermore, a manager had encouraged me to wait a day or two to renew my membership on MAD in order to receive said-discount.
I didn't argue with the employee/manager I spoke to. It didn't really seem worth it. I was polite, said thank you, and was hung up on. Not sure what I was expecting, considering all the red flags that had been raised leading up to this, but I guess I expected a little more. *end rant*

The girl was super sweet but the place was small and dingy looking.

DO NOT BUY A MEMBERSHIP WITH THESE PEOPLE! Started my nightmare with this branch when I wanted a quick spray tan before going to a wedding. The girl basically refused to let me pay for a one time service and kept insisting I get a membership and that I could cancel at any time. I asked her repeatedly if she was sure and what were the strings attached, reminding her that I was in a hurry and didn't have time to read through the contract. She lied. The contract locks you into 2 years of payments. When I went back later to cancel, the owner laughed knowingly and hinted that this employee had done the same thing to other clients. Still, she refused to take any responsibility. She said I could cancel if I moved A THOUSAND MILES from any Planet Beach, but if you move a thousand miles away, you ALSO have to be able to travel the thousand miles back to cancel in person. And once you cancel, out takes 2 months (with payments) to go into affect.

Worst tanning experience ever! Owner stood in the room with me, creepy to make sure I had goggles. Like mother hen. I felt like I was going to get molested or propositioned. Completely unacceptable. Then when I showed her I the Blink-Eze eyewear she told me they were not allowed in her salon and that I had to have goggles, get this, in the RED LIGHT bed! There is no known requirement to wear any eyewear in the red light as it is not a tanning bed. However, no one at any other Planet Beach or at corporate or in NYC that I have spoken with this year, could phantom why she had pulled that stunt except to make an extra $14 on goggles...The really sad thing was I just brought a friend in there who was eager to sign up with this place and she was next after me. I've been a long time client and that was the last straw with that lady. I went over to the Algiers location and I'm so glad I did even thought it's farther away.
