Some people will tell you that Coop's has the best gumbo in the French Quarter. I beg to differ. The best gumbo is at Emeril's NOLA. If you're going to Coop's, I recommend the jambalaya. The best I've ever had. Coop's also has a nice friendly atmosphere. I'd get there early because they fill up fast.

Sorry folks, I won't be back. Interested in trying Cajun food, this place was highly recommended by a shop keeper farther in on Decatur Street. I took a seat at the bar, because it was the available place to sit - but only wanted food. The waitperson recommended a taste dish but had some difficulty when I simply stated my preference against eating a certain kind of animal included in one of the 'tastes' - and that led to her personal assumption about me, voiced to me, and that really wasn't appreciated. I did stay and ate the two tastes (extra large portions to make up for the 3rd taste left off the plate). I don't recommend the food, it wasn't tasty, and for me, visit to Coop's was a waste of my time.

Wait on sidewalk was a little long but some great food to wait for. Would have 5 stars but some of the green beans were somewhat cold, although they had great flavor.

Chicken sandwich doesn’t come with any sides but a full breast of chicken made the sandwich worth it.

Blackened Red Fish was excellent. Gumbo was awesome. Just watch out for the crawfish shells. Caught me off guard when I chomped down.

Note to manager. Should be making some more money serving drinks to those waiting. NOLA lets people have drinks outside of establishments, and we, along with several others walked across the street to get drinks because no one was allowed inside your place that was waiting.

A.MAZ.ING! Best gumbo in the French Quarter. Overstuffed Po' Boys are perfect. Everything is just damn good, wait staff and bartenders are friendly and don't mind chatting. A place for locals and out-of-towners. Expect a line at dinner and after since seating (like most places on Decatur) is limited. But do not despair, the line moves quickly and it is *well*worth* the wait. Food service at the bar is accepted and is fast and same menu as table seating. Best time to go: ALL DAY!

We always take our out of town guests to Coops. The taste plate is a great way to sample some of what New Orleans has to offer. Fried chicken is a favorite along with the jambalaya. Lots of atmosphere with local flare. It's a bar with great food, no need to dress up, but come early there's usually a line.
