I was surprised to see how much Rubio's has changed over the years! I think I got their (new) cilantro or chipotle lime quinoa veggie bowl, and it was amazing and flavorful. It even had almonds in it.

Rubio's fish tacos taste great and have large pieces of fish. Rubio's salsa bar is also the best around.
Edit: I'm a pretty regular customer here, and cleanliness of the dining area has really been going down. It's still the great Rubio's food and nice staff, but I'm going to say it's become more of a three star location now.

I have a soft spot for Rubio's. To me they aren't necessarily the best place for fish tacos but they are more or less the standard by which I measure other fish taco joints. Better than Rubio's means it is very good. Worse means why would I ever go there when I could just go to Rubio's - which are ubiquitous and much more than acceptable. Despite their recent efforts at menu diversification lately, there are really only three things on the menu that I order: 1. Original Fish Taco, 2. Fish Taco Especial (if I'm feeling fancy), 3. Fish Burrito (if I'm feeling particularly hungry). So if you're new to the area or something, or maybe have just never been to a Rubio's or maybe you've never had a fish taco (which is a bad state to be in, truly), stop in, order the original, eat it. You'll probably love it.
This location in specific is about the same as any other. I've never had bad service at any Rubio's - it is about what you'd expect from a fast food counter service place (though if they aren't busy they do actually bring the food out to you, which is nice I guess).
