As a 1st generation Italian and native New Yorker, I was very satisfied with Mascalzone; not only on the food, but on the service as well. I highly recommended the spinach gnocchi and the mushroom truffle pizza. I also got to meet the owner Angelo, a native Italian who was a really great guy!

This place was very clean a bit cold but the food was awesome and very light. The pasta was not greasy or heavy not the pizza. I recommend going to eat there.

Please if you have occasion to celebrate - do not book your party there, they are going to ruin it. Even if you not celebrating anything - save your nerves. But if you brave enough to go there for the food - never take Massimo as your server. We were the only table at the restaurant (although it was 11 people) we still got a horrible service! You have to ask for a water 5 times, for your drink at least 3 times, and you are lucky if you get the right drink after that or you may not get it at all, like my husband. I have to say the food was good, but all good impression was cancelled at the end when 11 people had to spent 30 min figuring out who had what, because the lazy waiter couldn't spare a 1 min to do so on the computer or ask at the beginning how he should have run the checks. Instead he chose to make each customer to guesstimate their own check! What an unexpected game to play after a few drinks. More than that he dare to argue that he is right! The lady who was a substitute for a manager tried to help the situation but nothing was resolved. Absolutely horrible customer service! My birthday was ruined. I'll take my business to one of the 1000 other Italian restaurants next time.

I worked there for a month. It's not very clean and the food is not made fresh daily. I was treated like a slave. They hired me as a waitress at 2.13 an hour but I had rare opportunities to wait tables. I was cleaning restrooms and tables for the most part. However, it took months for me to get paid. Paid with a check that bounced. So the $183 dollars I made for 80 hours has now cost me a return check fee of $12, $200 for babysitting, and $50 for gas. As of today they still have not paid me the $183 I earned as a slave. I would not recommend that anyone dine in a restaurant who takes advantage of single mothers.
