Mom and I found this new spot by surprise, it took me back to the days of Mom and I shopping Downtown Hartford and then getting something to eat from one of the cafeteria's like G. Fox, Grants, and Sage Allen.
Real food for the soul.

This spot has outlasted my predictions, not sure why as there is a lot wrong here. Foodwise in the past they have historically cooked fries to a crisp, on my last visit I was served that last bottom of the basket collection of broken french fry ends. Burgers served on English muffins don't work as they get soggy from burger juices and fall apart halfway through. Unsure why a popover is served with items like meat and gravy, it has no absorption like a roll or bread and is really an item served more at breakfast or tea with butter/jelly. Breakfast doesn't seem better to me either, make your own toast is one step closer to staying home and making your own breakfast. The signs in the bathroom explaining that they're actually clean even if some find them filthy in appearance is tacky. Finally there are events like my last visit toward end of summer. It was a rainy/humid night. We sat at the bar, saw some water drops on the seats that we thought were from someone's raincoat or umbrella. After a while some drops fell on the bar though and we realized that all of the AC ductwork was sweating and now those dirty drops were falling on everything below. At the bar I saw they had covered all the bottle tops but water was falling on a basket of fruit that was there to be cut up to garnish drinks. Didn't want to think where else this was occurring as I traced the ductwork across the ceiling. Worst was they were obviously aware of the issue and didn't even warn us so we could at least have taken a seat that wasn't directly beneath the ducts. All of the above issues seem pretty consistent over time in terms of atmosphere, food quality, etc., making this a place I don't really go. Unfortunate as the place has plenty of potential, feel like it needs some sort of consistent theme for the food as well as better pairing of food items, the other issues are managerial.

Food is always fresh here. You can find a variety a food here, from the traditional to the slightly eclectic, with varying levels of success. This tends to be a little bit more hearty or comfort food from our experience.
We find the meat dishes to always be pretty good. Prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly the restaurant is very clean.
They also offer a pretty good breakfast, with a decent selection and quick service.
