Unbelievable experience. I have visited 4-5 times on weekends and service was shotty and food was mediocre, however I still went back to support a black-owned restaurant. On today, I waited 10 mins to be seated before anyone acknowledged that I was there and then told me to go sit wherever I want to sit despite the signage that clearly said PLESE WAIT TO BE SEATED. Waited another 10 mins then the waitress finally came, at that Point I gave her my entire order - Orange Juice, 2 Waffles, Eggs and a side of grits. 35 mins later no food. Mind you there were only 5 other tables who seemed to be perfectly fine with sitting around waiting forever for some basic breakfast. I asked to cash out on the Juice since that’s all I received and no one apologized or provided any explanation.... I will never come back! I drove past 5 mainstream breakfast establishments to attempt to put my wealth into a black establishment. Mattie at el, you’ve got to do better!

Went here with the family, it took a really long time to get our food but it was amazing when we got it. Great flavor and good portions.

Had a really good Southern Style meal in Buffalo at Mattie's. Can't the portions for the price. If Mrs Mattie is there cooking it's even better!

Family style restaurant in African American Community. Good home cooked food. Pleasant atmosphere. Has been in existence for many years. Mattie herself still thrives and meets and greets, on occasion.

Good food and service. I admittedly tend to eat light (my preferred meal is home fries and/or toast), but I recommend the haddock.
