Before I start my review, I will point out that some have written that there is a jacuzzi but no spa. Jacuzzi is a brand name of a spa, much like hoover is a brand name for a vacuum cleaner. So there definitely is a spa and it's very nice.
The food is fantastic and the staff are super friendly and helpful.
The car park behind the hotel has electric charging points. I didn't need one myself but that's good forward thinking, I reckon.
The shower was easily controlled and I found my preferred temperature in seconds - that does not happen in some hotels so I was very pleased with this.
You can book massage sessions via Gloots who have a base at the hotel. You have to pay for these treatments separately from the hotel bill. After our treatment we enjoyed the hotel jacuzzi (spa). Very nice as it was only my wife and myself.
The hotel is also close to the city centre.
Unfortunately, there is no lift but the website is clear on that.
My only gripe is that the toilet brush wasn't clean.
That really is the only gripe from me, though. I will visit here again. We loved our stay.

We had a very nice stay at Hedley House. We had a family room with 3 beds. It was large and comfortable. The bathroom has been remodeled with nice choices. The rest of the building seemed a bit dated, with some creaky floors. Our room was at the top and away from the stairwell, so it was quiet. But I can imagine that the rooms near the stairwell door would suffer from noise whenever someone used the stairs - it was impossible to close the door quietly. Breakfast was very nice and in a pleasant room. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Location was fantastic! Quiet, pleasant street, but very near city center.

Just spent 4 lovely nights at The Headly House Hotel. We chose the double deluxe room for our honeymoon stay. All the staff were super friendly & accommodating. Our room was a good size & nicely decorated. The bathroom was big with a bath & walk in shower (big enough for 2) Although the hotel was full with guests we didn't hear much noise at all. Breakfast menu had plenty to choose from that catered for all tastes. All in all a big thumbs up from my husband & I. The only tiny glitch was the lack of ice available on the 2 separate occasions I asked for it. I'm sure that is easily remedied. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to York.

This hotel is in a really great location, just a short walk into the city centre. The up-graded room we had was spacious and well equipped, and the bathroom was modern and spotless. We ate dinner and breakfast there, as we were only staying for one night, and the food was excellent - beautifully cooked and presented - the mushroom soup I had was the best I have ever tasted. Unfortunately the weather was really bad for walking around so we didn't get to see as much as we wanted, but it gives us a reason to go back another time and stay for a couple of nights. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and the information book in the room made us laugh out loud - very funny comments, but useful. The only thing we missed was a session in the hot-tub, but it was being serviced and not in use - maybe next time.

Hedley House Hotel very welcoming. Staff could not do enough for you. Beds so comfy, room(19) toasty warm, needed a chair to do ya hair and make up. Re- vamp paint work but think in the progress of that in other rooms. Evening meal needed to be changed was the same all 3 nights there but breakfast was TOP NOSH ...Thanks to all staff had a lovely time, Jo @ mum xx
