Beautiful. Saved from demolition after the Second World War, the Elizabethan Garden is a hidden gem, perfect to sit with a coffee on a sunny day. Not usually busy and free. Perfect.

A small, quiet, charming oasis of calm just a few steps from the hustle of the Barbican.

Great little hideaway. Privately owned but open to the public for free.

Easily missed - but a lovely haven in the hustle and bustle of the Barbican. Well worth a short walk from the seafront to visit.

This is a gorgeous, entrance-free garden and a good way to kill some time. It's small, though, so don't expect to spend even an hour here. The entrance is in a commercial area, with tea a tea room and other amenities nearby. That's handy, but it can be easy to miss, so I've included a photo.
