Free and especially hands-on for children, this small and modern museum thematically examines the history of the area.
A few of the Joe Orton defaced library book covers and 'the' bust of Lenin are on display. Both the cause of much controversy and notoriety in their day. An interesting interlude and worth the effort.

No reason to necessarily travel out of the way specifically to see this museum it has, however, a well-curated and interesting collection of artifacts worth viewing if you are in the area. Very few (perhaps none) would appear in the museums elsewhere in the city and so the experience is different and eclectic one, both in general as well as with respect to Islington's history. I visited because I had a half hour to kill and it was worth the investment of a portion of the hour.

If you have time it is worth visiting. Fit to be called a museum.

Got a leaflet about free admission to the grate fire of London museum.I was
going to take my mum since it is local.
So i just googled before hand to find out its the library of course it would be free.my local library that we have been to a thousand times as much as i am fond of the place.
Its not the free outing advertised on these leaflets very disappointing deceiving waste of time.no offence to the fire service.why not just say exhibition at the library about London fire ect.why lie.like people are not gonna no realistically.Plan b i take her out for a drink or to saddlers wells instead.
It wasn't about me i wouldn't mind.I am not complaining about the library at all i love that one i have many happy memories from there. Its the leaflet that led me here looking for a museum.lol .Am i the only one its like a prank...
