I have to agree with the majority of the comments on here, and I assume they’re all related to one member of staff: Shaz, as all other members of staff were extremely helpful, and will go out of their way to help you; a huge credit to the company. However, it doesn’t give much credit to the company as a whole, when you further find out, this rude, unprofessional member of staff is the manager of the gym.

I came to the gym with my girlfriend; we decided to trial the gym together as it’d be nice for us both to be at the same place. She did warn me of the rudeness of certain staff, but I wasn’t expecting what I received.

We were initially told that, because we didn’t have a “bring a friend” slip, I wasn’t able to trial the club; but instead of being polite and apologetic, he just didn’t want to speak to either myself or the existing member. I just assumed he was a new member of staff, with no client facing experience. As a result, I left the gym, and gave them a call to speak to the manager, and was informed that I could enter the gym if I signed up for a 1 day pass (this is what I originally expected). As a result, I signed up online and returned. This was when I realised, the person that originally said I couldn’t enter, was the manager.

At this point, my girlfriend had already been in the gym for 30 minutes. After I had signed the relevant documents, and spoken about why he just didn’t let me sign up for the day pass originally, it was almost an hour later, and my girlfriend was leaving. I was however, told that I could use the gym today, and return back the following week to trial the gym together; for her to show me around and experience the facilities.

However, to finalise the bad experience; whilst leaving the gym, I was told I couldn’t come back on the day pass, as I had just used the gym on my own; a contradiction of what was originally agreed, and that I would have to wait 60 days to come again.

The purpose of the visit was for me to give the gym a trial with my girlfriend; for us both to go to the same gym together. A guided tour and sales pitch would have been nice, perhaps even a discount for us both been members (thinking out of the box) but instead, just rudeness and lack of professionalism. Common sense should have come into play; an existing customer that has a few months left on her contact, coming into the gym with their partner to show him around; a 90% guaranteed sale. Instead, we’ll both just go to another gym once her original contract is over.

Overall, I nor any existing or potential customer expects to be spoken to in such a manner. Such a disappointment as the gym itself has all of the facilities required, and is perfectly located very central; huge potential as a gym, if only the correct people were employed.

I think the swimming pool, sauna and steam and brilliant and have never found it overcrowded. The only thing I'd like to see improved is to have more than one lounger in the rest area and a water fountain. I find the showers and changing facilities great. Bringing your own padlock for the lockers is genius after experiencing so many failed locker systems in various leisure centres. There are always cleaning staff around keeping everything spotless. I have never been a member of a gym before as I like to do other activities that are never included but I think LA Fitness has won me over and it is surprisingly affordable.

This was the worst experience I have ever had in a gym. I went over there to look at the facilities and try them out today. First I was told by the staff that my membership option might not be available anymore and after he consulted the manager I could only do it right then right now. The way I was approached bordered on blackmail really.

Then I was able to look around the gym which is small but functional and well equipped.

When I asked about classes availability I was told that I can book up to 4 days in advance. However if you looked on the online booking system every single class (except Zumba) was booked solid until Monday (which you can't book because it is more than 4 days). Basically it looks like you have to wait until one minute passed midnight and quickly book to get a space. When I mentioned that I was told that j can always come and check when the class starts (I was going for a corporate membership so how can this work with your office duties I don't know ?!?).

The best bit though was the final
part when I dared to ask if I can try the pool today (the only reason I wanted to join). I was told no, and the free three day pass which is promised online also doesn't apply apparently. When I said that you can always try a gym out before you join, I was told that if I like I can pay £15 for using the pool once, or leave. I chose to leave.

This gym would really be ok if the staff would not be so awfully rude, unfriendly and would listen to what you are asking at least once. DEFINITELY AVOID!

This gym is A Plus quality. If your serious about a gym membership for 50£ a month everything you could need or want great gym, classes, pool area, Sauna, steam. L.A. Fitness has gone to another level. I brought a member ship at the start of the year up New Barnet. Moved to Swiss cottage and made the transition. Fresh towel supplied at reception on my every vist. Highly recommended !!! Just do it !!!

I've been going there for about a year now, and it's an okay gym for the price. Nice big swimming pool, steam room is decent, though could be warmer at times (bring a bottle of cold water for the thermostat), the showers and locker room are fair (better in other Central London branches), there's a reasonable selection and variation of machines, the freeweights section is okay, just constantly busy, there are a good amount of mats since rearranging the walkway, the staff are usually polite, and glad to say, all the PT aren't always hustling you and hogging all the machines away!

Areas where they can improve are the opening times on the weekend to be more like Bayswater, and a little more variation on the resistance machines.
