Upon returning the car, the staff member informed me of a fingernail clipping size chip at the base of the windscreen. He said that I would be responsible despite the fact that I cannot control gravel from other vehicles on the motorway. He said that the chip could most likely be repaired with epoxy as it is routinely done. Imagine my shock at finding I had been charged 600 pounds ($900us). When queried, they claimed that a new windscreen was required at my expense. Of course the glass shop would prefer to make 600 than 60. I will be seeking other remedies and warn others about their predatory practices.
