The only place in Edinburgh we experienced poor attitude on arrival. No effort to find us a table so had a very costly drink but asked to leave by 8.30pm. Two people were subsequently found small tables. Was too annoyed to argue. Clearly a popular place but not for us!

Good Scottish food. The Shore has lots of very good restaurants / eateries. Kings Wark more than hold its own in this area.
Very historical building as well.

Been staying in the area for the last week and have found myself drawn, when possible, to here because every lunch or dinner I've had has been excellent and sometimes unusual. Not forgetting that all the staff are efficient and very friendly (including travel information). Try to call in. Highly recommended. Richard, London /Spain

Good atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff, however, I believe the standard of a place can be measured by how good the chips are, and the chips here were undercooked and hard.
That said, the waiter was very understanding and offered free drinks or desserts, which we didn't take him up on.
So, overall a really nice place but more attention needs to be given to the food.

Had dinner recently, having not been there for several years. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A bit more space at the tables than I remembered from before. Won't wait so long before going back.
