The V&A waterfront never disappoints.
A great place to unwind, grab something to eat or do a bit of shopping.
Quite a nice range of restaurants available, some with a good view of the bay.
The Cape Town wheel was added a couple of years back.
Everything closes quite late so you don't have to rush.
The ferry to Robbin Island also leaves from here. You need to book in advance though since tours are quite busy.
There's also a lot of ferry operators for short trips around the bay.

Going to the waterfront is like experiencing all of South Africa on cocaine. Sure it's nice but as a local I don't rate it. Don't get me wrong the management team take great care of the place and most of the outlets are outstanding. Just don't visit only the waterfront.

The Waterfront is one of Africa's great shopping destinations. The views of the beautiful Table Mountain and the sea combine with the wafting smells of Calamari or fresh coffee to give a year round holiday atmosphere.
From here one can see contemporary African art in a Museum, experience sharks up close in the aquarium or take a red bus for a highly recommended tour through the city.
There are plenty of food options for a variety of palettes or prices, you can find something delicious to eat. Woodies came highly recommended to me by locals for its simple but outstanding burgers and chips, and boy where they right.
My kids love the open air music, the play areas, and the little train that putters about the place.
No Mother City experience is complete without a visit to the Waterfront. Just make sure you bring a rather full wallet and your walking shoes.

Lovely views. Some new retailers have been added. Still lacks one or two quality coffee shops though. They don't quite have that right yet. How about a Seattle Coffee outlet for a nice change? Also dreading the festive season. Traffic. Parking. Ugh. Choose your visiting day carefully.

Lovely ambience, but few GOOD restaurants. Seems to be a generally safe and entertaining environment. Great aquarium. Plenty of exclusive shops. Also, a good place to get souvenirs for friends and family overseas. Recommend also harbour cruise on the Lady J.
