A lovely hotel, if you enjoy plants, it is a paradise. If you are a non smoker, beware. We visited and stayed in a studio with a side sea view and were constantly breathing in other people's smoke on our veranda as it wafts into the room from next door. Very unpleasant, as it seems a lot of Europeans smoke a lot!
Apart from this, not much to do unless you go on day trips/ walks etc. which are easily organised (through Flora Travel on Madeira). Funchal is a short, local bus ride away or use the hotel shuttle (you must book 2 day's in advance). Local supermarkets sell all you need in provisions (we are vegan and also had a kitchenette in our studio) we found soya products readily available.
Madeira is beautiful on the whole, the hotel was good, most staff were friendly (a few exceptions, but that's humans for you!). We would recommend this hotel and location.

This is an absolutely enchanting place. Peace, quiet and relaxation as well as thematic gastronomy can all be found there.

We stayed here in September 2017 and to be honest it's one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. The staff are great and very friendly and helpful, reception staff especially. Our room was very clean and apart from the lack of air-conditioning was very comfortable. Will definitely be going back.

I made my wedding party at Quinta Splendida and it was amazing. The food was great, the staff is 10 stars and always available to help and the restaurants are also very nice!:) highly recommended!

Glorious well maintained grounds. Comfortable spacious apartments,many with balconies and verandas. Friendly and professional and engaging multi lingual staff. Great choice of restaurants within complex and nearby. Superb views and nice shops and supermarkets nearby. Excellent location for a quiet relaxing break.
