We have just returned to Cusco after a 5 day 4 night trek with salkantay Peru. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in seeing some of the variety of terrain, vegetation and culture within the Andes. Salkantay Peru were very organised throughout. Our guide was excellent and our cooks made the most amazing meals. Day one is an early start and short trek to the glass igloos from where you can see my salkantay. Day two is tough as we climbed over salkantay pass and then down into the jungle. Be prepared for cold weather so layer up on day two. Day three is along the river and then an afternoon at the hot springs. Day four we climbed up an inca trail in the morning to look across at Machu pichu and surrounding mountains and then trekked past Hydro electric to Aguascalientes. Day five was a very early start to join the bus Line in order to arrive at six am. Definitely worth taking the bus Because there is lots of walking and climbing up or down steps on Machu pichu itself. This is a demanding trek but we met some fantastic, interesting people and really enjoyed a very memorable five days. Highly recommended.
