We enjoyed this little pub. It can get pretty crowded, so you may have to wait for a bit. We were able to sit at the bar right away. They have a great selection of beer and other drinks. They even had mead which was very good. We ordered the cheese plate, the cured lamb, and the reindeer sausage. We liked all of them and finished our meal with the apple dessert. Overall, a great place to try some traditional Norwegian food with a good variety of drinks.

Hearty, comforting traditional Nordic food and friendly service. Portions are large and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I especially like the meatballs with mushy peas.
The decor is cozy and casual, almost as if I were visiting an old friend's home... An old friend who really liked penguins, that is

Great selection of local beers, along with interesting Norwegian menu including reindeer neck and minke whale. Cheese platter was delicious with some award winning Norwegian cheese. Recommended for the Norwegian experience!

Great and (relatively) affordable food.
I got the whale steak. If you haven't had whale before, I'd describe it as being like a normal steak, but very tender on the inside, with only a slightly fishy taste.
Also got the cheese platter, which (as a cheese lover), I thoroughly enjoyed. The moldy one was my favorite!

Had an outstanding experience eating lunch here. The chef came out of the kitchen to give us a rundown of the cheese plate, which featured four different cheeses from Norway. All of them were unique. The chef, with refreshing honesty, said the blue cheese featured was "not the best we've ever had" but it was still very good! The entrees made excellent use of local cuisine. Prices would be more than reasonable for this quality of food anywhere, let alone Norway. Put it at the top of the list if you plan to visit Bergen.
