Pros: Great hotel. Friendly staff. Very helpful for excusions and travel arrangements. Wonderful breakfast. Cons: Breakfast was the same menu for the 8 days I was there.

The Apollo was a lovely place to stay on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, helpful staff. About 15 minutes to the centre.

My last stay in this building led me feeling it was one of the best hotels in its category in Europe- the service was incredible - sadly I have just had once of my worst experiences.in memory. The hotel has been re-branded, renovated, and what was once one of the best hotel experiences in Europe. A series of basic errors and mishaps have led me to believe this has now been destroyed. I was responsible for taking care of a group of 21 people travelling with me. The reception wrote the wrong number on my rooming list, resulting in the bags not going to the correct room, hence no chance for then to change before going out for dinner. They took it well. No big deal you might say, until later that evening, another hotel guest walked into their room!!! The reception had double allocated the room! The same guests no longer felt safe in that room, and so packed up and took another room. When it came to making arrangements for a pre-arranged dinner on our final night, I found it difficult to speak to anyone who was definitively in charge. First one person, then another. None were able to find the agreed contract for the dinner. In the end, we re-made the agreements and I then had to explain it to multiple staff members. Aaaargh!!!!! Pretty young things, dressed in tight jeans, all clueless of what it takes to make a great hotel run smoothly and not a whiff of anyone in charge or in control. Fortunately, the concierge staff have remained the same and are solid and ever helpful.

Yes I scored 5 stars for a non 5 star hotel, reason is the little things that they got and did to really earn that! Some of the reviews were mentioning some construction noise which was minimal during my stay at IBC trade Show, but everyday they would leave something on my table to really leave a smile on my face! Breakfast was just right with all what is needed for someone to stay fine until the evening. The boat transportation and bikes are an added thing that they really impress their guests with. The location on the canal is amazing especially that view in the morning. Restaurants are also quite impressing with the food quality and drinks. Finally the staff are quite friendly and they would never attend without a smile on their face! It’s a really peaceful and nice hotel to stay at especially for trade shows in the same area.

My payment was missing and it took half an hour to fix I thought. The next morning during checkout, it still wasn't fixed. Also we had to go back to the reception 3 times to get a working key for the right room (twin bed) while it was requested during the booking. The hotel and rooms look nice and clean though. The breakfast was good.
