GoldCar rentals - they put your life in danger providing you with the car with too high milage on it! They phoned me a whole week later telling me to return the car (and I don't stay anywhere lose to Pisa) because it should have already be returned to Fiat. And yes, they just forgot to check the car when giving it to us! Do you think they offer discount or offer a service to pick up a car?! I guess you know the answer...NO

If there was 0 stars that is what i would give them. All went well with pick up etc the problem started when we dropped the car off. I showed the man at the desk the full tank of diesel and he agreed and i went on my way back home. Yesterday i get an email saying i am being charged 60EUROS for not having a full tank!!!! I called them to try and reason out with them but they rudely asked me for my receipt from the service station. This was a week ago, I paid in cash and I obviously do not have the receipt anymore. They are THIEVES STAY AWAY FROM GOLDCAR they do everything in their power to charge you extra. RUDE people and horrible customer service. I'd rather pay a bit more and go with a rental car company who are going to be honest and respectful.

Terrible customer service experience with Goldcar, in Pisa Italy. First the hard sell from the sales agent at the desk for the overpriced insurance. When I told him I already had insurance he told me it wouldn't be valid because Goldcar didn't release repair bills. Then the brand new Nissan Micra they rented us broke down on the next to last day. The mechanic they sent out couldn't fix it, forced to take a 3 hour bus ride to pick up a replacement. They wanted to charge me for a full tank of fuel (at their prices), even though I didn't have the chance to refuel the car, and it was half full when they picked it up. Now they're claiming that the breakdown was my fault because the battery was flat. It wasn't. All the electrics were working, and this was confirmed by the mechanic who tried to jump start it. Seems to be standard practice for Goldcar to try to scam extra money off customers like this, just have a google. Owned by Europcar now, who should know better.

I will NEVER book Goldcar again. EVER.

I booked my hire car and paid in advance. Arrived to pick car up at 23:30pm. (on time). All was going well until they needed my credit card to take 'payment' in case of accident etc. This is normal. I handed over my card and the machine kept saying 'error'. The gentleman insisted it was my card, I said it was his machine as it didn't say decline but error. I offered my debit card, he said no. He also said I couldn't have my car - which I had already paid for! He just shrugged and said go to another hire car desk. I asked for refund. He said no. Unbelievable.

Next car hire desk had no cars. By now beginning to panic as nearly midnight. Hertz had a car, I paid for it USING MY CREDIT CARD. THE SAME CARD GIVEN TO GOLDCAR. IT WORKED! (Obviously more expensive as last minute and beggars can't be choosers).

Still trying to claim my money back, I have appealed but it's still a no.
Looks like I will have to put this down to experience and never use Goldcar again. And warn as many people as possible! Staff totally unhelpful and indifferent.

What can I say? My flight was delayed, and my car rental company could not stay open. So I went online at 21:00 and booked Goldcar for 00:30 (my flight was planned to land at midnight or a bit later). I left the flight number, being a frequent traveller who knows that assures the car's available when there's a delay.

After I boarded the plane, we built up a bit more delay. I ran and made it to the car rental building at 00:47 (I have a radio controlled watch, to be sure). Goldcar was closed inside. I was going to walk into town to find a hotel, but saw a Goldcar employee standing outside the building with a colleague. I asked if maybe she could still give me a car. She retorted that they close at midnight (but why let me book for 00:30 then?), that I had not left a flight number (wrong) and that it was 01:00 (nope, and even if it was, car rental companies wait for their guests in case of published delay, sometimes charging a fee). I pleaded that I was far from home and had no other way to get to my hotel, which did not change the employee's rather arrogant tone and illogical contentions.

I tried to argue against what she was saying, she repeated her words and became irritated and raised her voice. I then also raised mine once, saying you cannot reasonably close a half hour before the start of a reservation.

She responded by calling the police and threatening to file charges (yes, you read that right). I also said in the background that I'd love for them to come over. When it became clear the police was explaining to her that maybe this was not police business, and that being "an imposing man" is not a crime, I decided I was only there for her psychological needs, tried unsuccessfully inside to find another car, left my business card with the employee with my warm regards, and walked into town looking for a place to sleep.

So, I won't choose Goldcar anymore.
