Amazing views, nice park and small exhibit museum

A great visit.
The nearest bus stop or train station is an interesting 15-20min walk along a very nice boardwalk past the dockyards.
The 10-12 storey climb is worth it for the view of the port, the hills of Genova and the west and if you time it well, you can watch a ship arrive or depart.

We went on a weekday when we knew the tower was closed. We expected that we would still be able to explore the grounds, just not climb the lighthouse. We were looking forward to the panorama vistas, but discovered the entire thing is closed outside the short weekend opening hours. It was difficult to find, but start at the ferry terminal, exit near the McDonald's and follow the lighthouse signs painted on the pavement. There were a few detours in the path and unclear turns but ultimately we found where we would have gone if it had been open. There's not much else around, so be sure you go when it's open.

Very disappointing.
The view is not bad but you don't have access to the top.
In the middle of the tower there is a fence which bars the way.
Also the "museum" is just one tiny room full of lightbulbs.

It is the symbol of the town. It is the highest lighthouse of all Europe. Built on 1543. Wonderful
