the worst car rental everrrrrrrrrr dont rent from here they will scam you take your money. iceland should be shame to have this company.
they give out old broken cars that they charge you when you get home with out telling you.
dont do it run away from this car rental. they dont give you the car that you book. they dont do a walk throw of the car in till you leave then they charge your credit card.
they dont play fair go with big car rental company.

This car rental is a scam. Do not use it. The car broke down and they stranded without giving us another car. This is a very small company and don’t take any responsibility. Do not rent car from this place! The owner of this company is a thief!

The worst rental car company in Iceland. DO NOT RENT FROM FAIRCAR. They use deceptive tactics when choosing a car online, and give you a much older, crummier, near-broken-down car of a different model when you get there. Pretty sure our car had tire damage when we received it, because we got a flat tire for absolutely no reason on a paved road. The cost to fix was $600, and FairCar would not give us a new car once it was fixed, even after telling them we did not feel safe. Additionally, the trunk sometimes did not shut, the A/C and heat went our several times, and the USB port stopped working. When we returned from the trip, FairCar tried to charge us an obscene amount for a "problem" they did not notice when I turned it in. Iceland is beautiful, but don't let your experience get ruined with a FairCar rental.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. Choosing to rent with FairCar during my time in Iceland, turned my vacation into a nightmare. We were not given the rental car we had originally reserved. Instead, we were given an old run-down mini-van. Our rental broke down, and FairCar refused to assist us. They referred us to a mechanic nearby, who took advantage of us by charging us an outrageous amount for a tire change. They refused to give us a new rental car, despite us not feeling safe. They put my credit card number down for the deposit without my authorization (We rented with my friend's credit card). Then, after we returned the car and had it cleared for inspection, they charged my friend and I for unspecified damages. Overall, please stay far away from this pathetic excuse for a company.

i bought fair car's sand and ash insurance as well as their complete excess damage waiver insurance (which according to their website reduced my financial responsibly in case of damage to zero). i received a small rock chip which didn't spread on the passenger side of the windscreen (i've had bigger chips repaired on my own car). fair car insisted that the entire windshield needed to be replaced. my credit card was charged $1200 a month after the car was returned. months later, i am still trying to fix the issue with my credit card. fair car is slightly cheaper than the other rental companies but in the end you pay more which is how they make their money. save yourself a lot of headache and wasted time after your vacation is over and rent with a reputable car rental company in iceland.
