They do not take reservations but I never had trouble getting a table, not even on Mother's Day! Food is as you'd expect from a Block House restaurant. Always nice going there.

It's a shame to be writing this review, because it doesn't do justice to the quality of the food, which was excellent. The steak was one of the best I've had, and serving a salad beforehand works surprisingly well as a starter.
What was disappointing and at times infuriating was the service.
Alongside our steaks, and a bottle of wine, we ordered some glasses of tap water, and were surprised to see a bottle of expensive-looking mineral water turn up. When we asked about this, we were told "oh, we don't do tap water".
Refusing to serve tap water, to guests who are paying upwards of €20 for a main and ordering wine too, is mean (in some countries it's even illegal). Bringing mineral water instead, without asking, and charging for it, is borderline fraudulent.
We had a similar experience with the sides. We were asked "would you like mushrooms with your steak?", the implication being that this would be a few mushrooms on the side. It turned out that these were a (substantial) side dish, which was of course separately chargeable.
I wish I could rate this place more highly, on food alone it would be a solid 4 or 5 stars, but in a restaurant in this price range, nickel-and-diming your customers is not OK.

Good place to eat meet. Comfortable, elegant, prompt serving. Nice window view. Prices a bit high

I went there with friends during a random late night excursion to Hamburg, were better to get hamburgers than in Hamburg right?
We all ordered burgers and I had some filled portobello mushrooms and a starter. My burger was really good but we had some language related trouble with ordering one of the burgers, we had to send one of the burgers back 2 times before they got it right. My friend also complained about his burger being overly cooked.
The place it self is really well made and clean though, it has a good steak house feel to it, though I would have liked it to be little more quiet. The staff was mostly friendly and polite, our servers English could have been better though.
