Nice public space to stroll with few restaurants and bars on one side. The only negative thing about the Esplanade is the concentration of traveling hobos and their dogs, the homeless and undesirable characters.

Must visit for Montpellier. Street performers, cafes, restaurants and a great central starting point for exploring the tiny streets filled with shops.

Loovely place, don't miss out on the regular market/festival that is held here every Friday throughout the summer. An incredible atmosphere, the most striking thing for a Scandinavian like me is that everyone walks around with each their (real glass!) small wine glass and just enjoy life. There's a wide variety of food at the stands, crepes, seafood, grill, international, ham, etc. Wine is a given. And of course live music here and there. All in all an impressive set up and I highly recommend it.

L'esplanade is really nice just don't eat there is very expensive. Typical tourist trap

Nice place to stay and pic-nic. But frequentation is not that good (even with the ton of policem going around all day long). Try to avoid at night
