When we booked this hotel we were aware that the hotel did not have it's own parking facility. What we didn't know and ultimately discovered was that the only public car park that could be accessed by our car (with roof box) was a 25 minute walk away (this is the estimated time for an adult to walk to the hotel from that car park on Google maps). This became apparent after driving in circles around Montpelier for 3 hours at night (1900-2200) and discovering that there were no 'on street' parking spaces (all required permits) and all underground public car parks had barriers restricting the height of vehicles that could access them. When we finally found an open air car park that we could access, our children 9, 8, 6 & 3 were asleep and we did not feel that it was safe/possible to walk across the city with our luggage and children to get to the hotel. it is not possible to even drive particularly close to the hotel to drop people/luggage off - have a look for yourself on Google Street view! We were in contact for 1.5 hours with the hotel during this and explained the problems that we were having. Ultimately we had to abort our attempt to get to this hotel, cancel our reservation and find alternative accomodation in Montpellier late at night which was no easy feat. This cancellation resulted in a charge of 120 Euros by the Hotel which we feel is unfair as we would never have booked this hotel had we known that parking would be such an issue.
