It was my second stay at this hotel. My first experience was pleasant. This time around, things just didn't seem to work out. Coming up from the car park we saw a sign in the elevator that the pool heater was out. For those not familiar with Bogota, this is a real issue with the weather ranging from about 50 or so to 70 daily.
My entire point in staying in the hotel was to have a reunion with friends and enjoy the pool. Two other couples were with us, and we were very upset. The hotel didn't try to contact us about this in advance or we would have canceled the reservation and booked at another hotel. (The Hilton has a nice pool which is wider and bigger, but it doesn't have the same view.)
The reception once told us the problem was recent, but the story didn't check out and online reviews confirmed that the pool has been broken for months. In addition, there was broken glass on a panel to keep you safe and in the pool. It was simply X'd off with caution tape making it easy, should someone want to take a 7 or so floor fall.
Our room was 18 degrees C. When we called we asked why our heat wasn't working. We explained that one of the couples we were staying with had heat. The receptionist seemed puzzled and slipped the information that the heat has been out months.
The black out shades fell from the ceiling in one of the rooms our group was occupying. Luckily it happened shortly before checkout.
I would like to mention that just about the only component of our stay that met my expectations was the breakfast. The buffet spread is impressive and the staff is attentive and friendly, making sure things are replenished.
This hotel isn't old and the major deterioration in quality is sad. One other note. Not long ago, Park 93 area was a "Zona Rosa" with lots of night action (bars, clubs, etc...) The area seems to have fallen on hard times. Besides a few chain restaurants (WOK and Starbucks etc...) there is little left. The Cuban restaurant is still hot, but there was a wait to get in. Beyond that, this is no longer the place to be. Head to around 85th for more action. I can't even say this area is cooling off and gaining an older crowd. Beyond running into the Bogota mayor on Saturday night in the park, there were few people around.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Bacata. its few min walk away from main city center shops and restaurants . Their breakfast buffet has a wide variety of fruits, juices , food and drinks! DO NOT forget to checkout their roof top swimming pool. If I am ever back in Bogota, I know where I'll be staying. Lastly, super nice and friendly staff who speaks some English, which was quite helpful.
