A bit underwhelming quite honestly. With all the raving reviews, you'd think they would hit it out of the park. $20 for a salmon don?! Was expecting a bit more - better quality, better presentation, better everything. Didn't taste that much different than places that offer it for $14. Expensive, not a whole lot of selection. Average.

Shimaya is a small treasure of a sushi restaurant. One of the best (if not the best) sushi restaurants in Vancouver. The fish is always fresh and the nigiri and rolls are prepared with the utmost care.

One of the best family owned sushi restaurants I've had the pleasure of discovering 5 years ago. This place is definitely a gem as it's authenticity can be tasted and seen in every ingredient they use. Grab a seat at the bar to watch the owner do what he loves best!
