Open doors day appeared to show all the worst qualities of university. Bad architecture of building (inside), no proper guides, tons of ghetto level graffities, useless elevator that can't reach top two floors, and overall depressing art presented for newcomers. To be direct, studying here looks like a waste of money at this point.

A Fine Arts degree is a colossal waste of money (I'm a BFA Graduate in Drawing and Painting). As long as tuition prices keep increasing each year, you'll end up finding yourself with a large Osap bill at the end of it all working as a barista to pay it off
The program itself doesn't teach you how to be your own business. How to market yourself and find your own voice as an artist
The Drawing and Painting program won't last very long. Students won't be able to explain to their folks why spending over 20k for four years (not including supplies) is a good investment
My advice? Go into Design and if you want to become a better artist go to Toronto School of Art. They have a much smaller teacher to student ratio, there's no time wasted on Liberal study courses when you really prefer to work on your own art, also it's more cost effective (I went there before Ocad, I should've remained there in hindsight)
Think about your future and the reality of making it as an artist before investing your money into the arts program!
UPDATE. After visiting OCAD during their orientation week unfortunately I have found that this school has now been taken over by SJW'S (social justice warriors). Be very careful. They don't believe in free speech and are offended easily (safe spaces and trigger warnings). Do your research on OCAD culture as well!

Office of the registrar tried to give my friend who is picking up my diploma for me a hard time. The lady who works the morning shift today showed no respect.
My friend brought her ID with my printed authorization letter as requested. But she called me while I was in Taiwan (12 hrs time difference) 1am in the morning (1pm in Toronto), saying the office didn't let her pick up the diploma without my student email. So i sent them an email right away. BUT THE LADY SAID TO HER: YOU NEED TO WAIT TILL 1:30PM SO SOMEONE CAN OPEN YOUR EMAIL.
The registrar lady was right there and left at 1pm ON POINT. Could't even spend 1min to open the email and get her the diploma. It is not about the 30 minutes that my friend waited, but the disrespect we both got from the lady.
Been with this school for almost 5 years, the quality of the office employees is apparently not very high. Students are human, and we deserved to be treated like human. It isn't her fault to clock off on time, but she could have suggested something better (to really help a student) as an OCAD employee.
p.s. The student advisor once told me my minor program will be printed on my diploma as well, but there is none.........

Beautiful building. Tour buses constantly come by to gawk at it. It's unfortunate (for them, not us) that they don't come inside though- the insides are full of hidden gems. The stairwells are filled with different types of graffiti and media, and there are art installations on multiple floors at times. Bathrooms are always dirty though, but otherwise great place to study fine arts.
