The food is inconsistent here.. The view to the river and the atmosphere of the resturant is very good. I hope they try to get better with there consistency with the food because we love going here for the view and atmosphere.

Came here, while staying at the double tree hotel. They had a most excellent breakfast buffet that included pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties, maple syrup, Apple muffins, banana bread, orange bread, bagles, toast, juices of many kinds, oatmeal, fresh fruit and much more. All for 9.99$! Not to mention the beautiful view of Canada right across the lake.

Excellent place to eat overlooking the St. Clair river at the mouth of Lake Huron. If you love adult Mac and cheese they are one of the best. my wife enjoyed a wonderful chicken wrap. Very reasonable pricing.

Freighters Eatery & Taproom offers stunning views of the St. Clair River and is attached to undoubtedly the best hotel in Port Huron. Based on reading the positive reviews, I decided it was worth stopping by for a late dinner followed by breakfast.
Pros:
Stunning views of the St. Clair River
Many of the food and drink items are locally sourced from Michigan
Nachos app and chicken were quite flavourful
Cocktails ordered were nicely crafted
Breakfast buffet was top-notch
Cons:
The menu could have used some more depth by adding a few more appetizers
Service was less than ideal at breakfast and we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for our bill. That being said, the service was much better at night.
Overall, I was very impressed with our experience at Freighters Eatery & Taproom and would definitely be willing to return.

Very disappointed in both service and food. We had been anticipating our first visit to Freighters for quite a while, and it was a total letdown. Travis, our server, was less than interested in serving us and very interested in a table across from us, probably because of the young lady seated there.
Our burgers were over cooked, we ordered them done medium and the "salt and pepper " fries were completely unseasoned. The fries tasted like they were cooked in old grease and the onion straws were grease soaked. We will definitely not return!
