Nice comfortable hotel with a good breakfast. The wifi could be better, but oh well.

Pretty good for a budget hotel. Read a ton of reviews before going so we were a little hesitant of what to expect. The staff was friendly, even offering to keep our stuff behind the desk while we wait for our room to be ready. First time staying in a hotel without a private restroom and unfortunately one of the bathrooms on our floor was out of service so there was only the one for the floor. Didn't cause much of a problem for us though. The room itself was ok, the bed was rock hard and the sheets looked to be about thirty years old. We only stayed one night so we dealt with it. Not sure if I would stay more than one night here.

Simple room but very clean. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.

First of all, trying to get to the hotel with suitcases was challenging from an Uber as the street is closed to vehicle traffic during our stay. You can't be dropped off right at the door. You are greeted at the front by an extremely long, narrow, crooked and wet with dripping water set of stairs to the lobby. This is very challenging with a pair of suitcases. The lobby is nice, although very hot. For whatever reason the fireplace was on even though it was 24 degrees outside. The man at the desk was friendly but his directions to the room were very poor so we ended up in the labyrinth of confusing hallways. Let me be perfectly clear...there are no elevators here. We walked up 3 flights of stairs because of the misdirection and back down the 3 flights of stairs and then up 3 flights of stairs to the correct room. With backpacks and suitcases in tow, this would have brought an olympic athlete to his knees. The rooms are small but modern and clean. The air conditioning was quick to cool the room. We needed it after the endless staircases! Apparently there are no noise bylaws in Montreal because at 5:30 am sharp every day we were abruptly woken by the extremely loud construction going on at the new building across the street. Not just average noise...the bone jarring, earth shaking of a track excavator with a backup alarm scraping rocks and debris and dropping it into the infinite line up of dump trucks waiting to have rock laden earth dropped in them from a height. There is zero chance of sleeping through this 5:30 onslaught. The breakfast offered by the hotel is in line with any other included breakfast. Fruit, toast, bagels, yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea, etc. The breakfast area is small and has a poorly planned flow. It is a free for all flurry of elbows to get to the painfully slow toaster. The final straw for me was we had asked the friendly man at the front desk if we could stay 2 and a half hours past the noon check out to align with our train time better. After checking his computer, he said "sure, no problem". After returning from a long and tiring walk on the day we were to leave, we were greeted at the door by 2 men saying we have missed checkout and had to leave now. I explained to them that we had asked the front desk if we could stay past checkout and were told it was alright. Without even a single word to us, he dialled the front desk, where I was greeted by a very abrupt mean sounding lady that told me we had to leave now. I again explained we had asked and been told we could stay to be told "I will have to coach this employee and it is impossible for you to stay any longer and you have to leave now". We had to scramble and pack and make alternate plans for transportation.
My summary.... For a business that is in the hospitality field, there is no hospitality here. If you want to sleep past 5:30am, take this place off your list. If you don't want 5000 stairs on your weekly list, avoid this hotel. I personally will not return or recommend it to my traveller friends. What a shame and loss of potential for the location.
