Recently joined BUPA and somehow got directly contacted by their (BUPA Dental Collins St) reception. I allowed them to make appointment for the whole family. When I got the quote for fees to check up, scale and clean $460 each, I decided to research other providers. Subsequently, cancelled the appointments when I found my previous Dentist at Albert St Moonah was approximately half that price. Reading Ms Ponsonby's evaluation & experience I am concerned and in particular what she meant in her poor hygiene concern. Lapses in sterilisation in this situation is actually a crime.

I recently visited a dentist who did not adhere to standard hygiene practices. She was physically rough with me while examining my dislocated jaw. She ignored me and failed to take the correct mould of my mouth through her impatience and lack of listening, leaving me in excruciating pain and a mouth splint that doesn't fit.
I found the staff on reception to be unhelpful also, condescending and too busy to pay any attention to my problem at hand.
In a nutshell... They'll string you along, dragging out the appointments gathering all your hard earned cash, leaving you broke and still in pain, seeking a real profession for help. A horrible experience!
My expectations of a dentist- professional, hygienic and caring. A dentist that listens and treats their patients well.
My payment was refunded in full and now I have to start the process over with a dentist I have confidence in.
Bupa Dental's Responce: " Sorry we didn't meet your expectations". Expectations really?!
Hygiene is essential, listening is essential and not manhandling patients, who are in physical pain is essential!
My overall Bupa Dental experience is lower than low. I'm appalled and so disheartened. Don't waste your effort and money, you deserve much better.
