Went for the Degustation menu last year, this place had very tasty menu items with excellent wines to complement the selection. Staff were friendly, decor unique with most of the seats placed at the bar. It was a great experience in a great location.

Magnum Monday.
Cautious about going out to dinner on a "school night" especially a Monday night, I would suggest throwing caution to the wind.
Anise is small. Very small. Bar counter dining is the thing that makes it work so well (there are a couple of tables squeezed into the window alcove).
Stemware is excellent, absolutely fit for purpose.
Wine range is excellent and Magnum Monday sees wines not on the wine list brought out. (Magnum of Champagne and a Magnum of aged Riesling on our visit, both excellent). Wine by the glass perfectly matched to the meal.
We were told that Magnum Monday was the restaurant's opportunity to "try out new ideas". This being the case, the new ideas were quite simply fantastic. Four courses and any description I would provide would not do the menu justice.
Service was perfect. Engaged enough to be interesting and fun. Not intrusive but attentive. And being seated at the bar counter just made the evening.

My wife and I went to Anise for our wedding anniversary. We had never had a degustation meal before so this was the option we went for. It was awesome! The wines perfectly complemented the meals and the service was perfect. We seriously couldn't have asked for anything better!

The "bar" dining worked for us. The choice of music was also very cool and well suited.
Overall it felt relaxed and even a bit homely but it was classy too. The meals were fresh and tasty. For us, the Wagyu Secreto was the best but it all worked really well together.
We will go back for sure and will recommend to anyone in Brissy seeking quality food and service (already have!).

It's never been the same since it changed hands in around 2012. The service used to be excellent but our service staff's knowledge of wine was lacking (where it used to be consistently excellent). The food is generally great with most of our courses being amazing but with the service element, I would not rush back (we have been many times before). Brisbane has so many options nowadays and Anise could be amazing.....
